So You're a New Leader...

Now What? Training is vital to the success of Scouting programs and ensures that a fun, safe and fulfilling experience is provided to each Scout.  Some courses may be completed online through All other courses will be provided by the Council and each District on a regular basis. 
If you experience issues in the online trainings; such as the inability to print a certificate or forgetting a User Name and/or Password, contact BSA National 972-580-2268.
Youth Protection Training is required by all Adult volunteers and must be completed every two years to help keep youth safe.  You will learn BSA's Youth Protection guidelines, signs of abuse, and how to report suspected abuse.  After each section of material, you will answer questions about that section's topic.  Completion is noted automatically in the BSA training records database if the course is completed online.

This is Scouting provides an overview of the Scouting organization, including history, values, programs, Youth Protection, community involvement and training.  This module consists of six (6) video sections, each followed by a brief quize.

Fast Start Orientation Training is intended to be completed by Pack, Troop, Team and Crew Leaders, as well as Unit Commissioners and Chartered Organization Representatives.

Position Specific Training is based on the Leader's position.  These courses are offered by your District and/or Council on a regular basis.

This series of brochures was designed to provide an at-a-glace orientation for new Cub Scout Leaders.
This online training is provided to help you understand and carry out your responsibilties as a new Den Leader, Pack Leader or Committee Member. 
The Council and each District provides supplemental training throughout the year to prepare Leaders for providing the best possible experience for Scouts.  Supplemental Trainining includes courses, such as: Wood Badge, University of Scouting, EaglesNest, Powder Horn, Pow Wow, Trainer's EDGE, etc.  You can click on the "Program" link above to find out more information on the upcoming Supplemental Trainings.
